Analyzing financial statements has been a task traditionally performed by investment bankers and accountants. However, with accounting scandals threatening to erode confidence in corporate America, attorneys are taking on a prominent role in preparing and analyzing financial statements. This Continuing Legal Education (CLE/MCLE) course is designed to give attorneys a half-day overview of accounting techniques, their relevance, and problems associated with each.

Max Minkoff
Corporate Executive, Business Professor
Max Minkoff is Chief Operating Officer of Telestrat Consulting, Inc., a financial advisory boutique which specializes in corporate valuation. Mr. Minkoff began his career with Rohm and Haas Company and has since served as CEO, COO, CFO, and CTO at a variety of emerging growth companies, beginning with VictorMaxx Technologies, a Virtual Reality consumer product company that he helped take public in 1995. Mr. Minkoff also started and worked with several other successful companies, including ShotTower LLC, a private-label foods manufacturer, Blogarithm, a popular Internet service for blog readers, and DocuVault Delaware Valley, a fast-growing records archive and destruction service.
Mr. Minkoff has taught university courses in business management and holds an MBA from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Dave Shuster
Former Tax Partner, Hogan & Hartson LLP
Dave Shuster is Director of Tax Controversy Services at Grassi & Co., an accounting firm. Previously, he was a tax partner at Hogan & Hartson LLP, an international law firm. His practice focuses on advising and representing clients in their controversies with the IRS and state taxing authorities. He also advises corporations, partnerships, private foundations, public charities, and individuals in federal and state tax planning and compliance. Prior to Hogan, Mr. Shuster began his legal career at the United States Department of Justice, where he was appellate counsel to the government in a wide variety of federal tax cases. There he briefed and orally argued cases in nearly all of the federal circuit courts of appeals. He also advised and assisted the Solicitor General's office in its Supreme Court litigation.
Mr. Shuster holds a JD and an LLM from the New York University School of Law, and a BSEE from the University of Michigan.
